Quarantine Fits: The Lookbook

by Gretchen Christophe '22

Who said the hallways of your childhood home or your local Trader Joe’s aisles can’t double as your own personal runway during quarantine? Just because we are stuck inside does not mean your fashionable fits have to stop. Countless research studies have found that the happier you are with your outfit on a day-to-day basis, the kinder you are to the people around you and to yourself. Okay maybe that isn’t entirely accurate, but there was an actual 2016 study wherein participants who dressed professionally were found to be more successful in negotiations than those in casual clothing. The proof is in the pudding, just think about the last time you wore an outfit you were OBSESSED with. Received any compliments on it? Got more done that day? And the more you were ~feeling yourself~ the more unstoppable you felt, right? Because the way you view yourself does some crazy psychological voodoo that alters your brain chemistry.

If you are just like me, you might be in a rut with outfit ideas outside of workout clothes and sweats. It can be tricky to figure out what kind of fashion pieces you should invest in next, especially if you won’t have many places to show them off. But don’t you worry because I did some digging to put together the ultimate quarantine lookbook to help you feel like the most confident version of yourself:

“On-The-Go”

Get ready to conquer your day of errands with some biker shorts and a graphic tee.

Rock a sporty chic outfit with a tennis skirt, gold jewelry, and a crewneck.

Pairing a simple tee or tank with high-rise long denim shorts has been all the rage these days.

“Take A Deep Breathe”

For a more beachy look, a linen two-piece set will never fail you in the summer heat! Plus, a classic white on white outfit will never do you wrong when you’re by the shore.

Be sure to wear some breathable and flowy clothing like Kendall’s blue button-down while getting in those steps.

“Fun and Flirty”

A bold print with puffy sleeves will be the perfect statement outfit for your next brunch date.

For a more low-key date night or night with your girls, dress up your denim with a bandana top!

“Picnic Playdate” - Social, But At A Distance

Trust me when I say this: a cute basic crop and a midi or maxi skirt are a gal’s best friend.

A playful floral printed sundress is the quintessential sign of summer.

“But First, Self Care” - Take Time to Lounge

Put your TikTok DIY tie-dye and/or beach clothing to work, or opt for an investment lounge-set piece.

“Crush That Interview”

Blazers are the best way to amp up the professionalism of your minimalistic outfit for any Zoom interview!
