Infused Water: Adding color to how we hydrate

by Sophia Raffetto '22

While plain water can be monotonous and routine, I have found that fruit, vegetable, and spice-infused water is a great alternative and delicious way to stay and want to stay hydrated. Infusing water is simple and combines the benefits of drinking enough water with the health benefits of the fruit, vegetable, or spice of your choice. Your ingredients of choice can be muddled for a stronger flavor or simply be an addition to your plain water. Here are some of my most favorite ways to make my own infused water and how they benefit your health:

To refresh and revive your day: Lemon, Cucumber, & Mint

  • Boost energy

  • Brings body temperature down

To accelerate and energize your mornings: Lemon & Cayenne (Apple Cider Vinegar Optional)

  • Aids weight loss

  • Minimizes bloating

To cool off after a long summer day: Watermelon & Mint

  • The perfect refreshing summer drink

To brighten your mood: Strawberry, blueberry & blackberry

  • Antioxidant powerhouse!

I hope you enjoy these infused water tips and recipes as much as I do! They’re simple to make and a great way to ensure you are staying hydrated in a more fun and delicious way. Follow @sophiaslemonadestand for more!
